FITswindon | January 2012
Last weekend saw FIT Swindon, organised by Mike Buss and a team of other volunteers. The FITSwindon event brings the very best in fitness to the Swindon Designer Outlet Village as well as raising much needed funds for Help for Heroes & the British Heart Foundation.
The event was packed with a Sponsored Spinning Marathon, nutrition advice from the number 1 nutrition store in Swindon SNES, the popular wii Just Dance Challenge was back again along with PHAT Club, and performandces from Fresh Vibes Street Dance.
Not all money is in yet but an estimated £800 has been raised by this event with a great donation of £250 from main event sponsor Johnsons Cars of Swindon who also provided the logistics vehicles for the event and are supporting Mikes Help for Heroes Win a Car Competition to give a Mazda 2 away.
Swindon has one of the largest populations of gyms and health clubs in any town in the UK, yet still suffers from high levels of Obesity, so Mike came up with an idea to inject interest in getting fit by putting on an event at the Swindon Designer Outlet Village showing off all fitness demos of some of the more fun ideas in the fitness industry at the moment and at the same time pull in much needed funds for charity.
Fit4Less provided psinning bikes for the public to jump on and take on Mikes Spinning Challenge and Jordan Fitness provided the latest in functional training equipment that Mike was on hand to give demonstrations on how this equipment can really change your shape and loose the pounds gained over Christmas recently.
Also, Jacqui Macquisten was on hand to show off the latest in fitness equipment ‘the X-Press’ which she currently holds the 1min world press up record on, which was almost beaten by one of the SNES team on Saturday with only 4 press ups short of Jacqui’s world record.
If that was all just a little bit too strenuous, then new company Swindon Yoga & Massage were on hand to get you into shape Yoga style and offering 10min massages and for a bit of fun, Ectatic Entertainment provided a Surf Simulator.
Hi-Tec who have recently brought out Help for Heroes running shoes, were giving away a £100 voucher to spend in the Hi-Tec Store at the Outlet Village.
Another great event raising awareness of getting fit and healthy as well as raising over £800 for charity.
