HI-TEC Spring Walks | 3 Great Coastal Walks To Tackle This Spring In The South Of England

Anyone that knows me that I love nothing better than being out on the hills and mountains around the UK and these 3 coastal walks are a great excuse to put on those hiking boots and get outdoors, so check out these HI-TEC walks…

With the spring weather in full flow, now is a great time to throw on your walking boots and fill your lungs with some refreshing sea air.

The south of England offers some of the most breath-taking coastal walks in the country; let’s take a look at three of them.

Pembrokeshire Coast – South West England

This stunning stretch of coastline offers a fantastic walk across seven and a quarter miles and would take the average person around four and a half hours to complete. The coastal path starts in the seaside town of Tenby and begins with a steady walk down St Mary’s Street to the South beach.

Heading through the medieval wall gate and along the esplanade you will eventually hit the beach where you can gain access to the cliff tops via some steps which can be found at the end of the beach, also known as Giltar.

The remainder of the walk has a large variety of terrain and features include slipways, grassy walkways, woods, gorse’s and styles to tackle.

Along the way you will find yourself walking past an MOD base; the route finishes within 100 yards of the bus-stop where you can catch a bus that will take you back to Tenby; should you miss the last bus then you can head north for approximately 1 mile to the train station.

Polzeath in Cornwall

The coast of Cornwall offers some of the most spectacular coastline in the country and this walk, which covers a short four miles, will take you from the center of Polzeath, through numerous fields, around the beautiful farmhouses of Penireglaze, around Pentgirt cove, through an iron age site, along a coastal path and through the rocky coves, which the Cornwall coast are so famous for.

As you come to the end of the trail there is a large grassy area, which is perfect for a picnic if the weather is good; if the tide is out you can take a shortcut across the sands back to Polzeath.

The Seven Sisters – East Sussex

This is one of those walks which are for those looking for a little more than a pleasant stroll in the park, as it’s a much more gruelling trek up and down several hills. The Seven Sisters represent some of the last undeveloped parts of the southern coastline and are very aesthetically pleasing on the eye due to their dramatic chalk humps.

As well as offering much more gruelling terrain, The Seven Sisters is also the longest trek of the three highlighted in this article at a total of six and a half miles.

Starting from the small village of West dean you head straight into uphill climb followed immediacy by a downhill decent on the other side. This trail offers a variety of terrain including roads, muddy tracks, stream crossings and scrambling through dense woodland.
