Mike Buss, local world record breaking endurance athlete has set some local people of Swindon a challenge this month and donating all profits to forces charities such as ‘The Soldiering On Trust’

On Saturday 14th September, Mike will be leading a team of Swindon Locals on one of the toughest challenges in the UK, The 3 Peaks Challenge, which involves summiting Ben Nevis (1,344m), Scarfel Pike (978m) and Snowdon (1,085m), all in just 24hrs including travel time between the mountains which are the 3 highest peaks in the UK.

The challenge almost didn’t happen though after a local hire company pulled out at last minute, leaving the challenge in desperate need of a minibus, and then local company Lime Square Vehicle Rental Ltd who are now donating a minibus for free to support the challenge.  Other local companies supporting the challenge are Aligra Recruitment, CDA Insurance, ISO2 Nutrition and the Hi-Tec Store in the Swindon Designer Outlet.

Mike has also pulled in favours from some of his sponsors, including X-Bionic and OMM, as well as this Mike will be using Crag Hopper clothing and equipment donated personally from supporter of Mike, Survival Expert ‘Bear Grylls’

When asked how the team are, Mike said “they are raring to go! They have put plenty of training in and Im really excited for them too, Ive done the 3 Peaks challenge so many times now, but love it, so when the group contacted me to organise, support and lead their 3 Peaks Challenge I jumped at it, I love being on the mountains”

Mike and the team will leave Swindon at 7am Friday to travel up to Fort William at the foot of Ben Nevis, ready to start the challenge at 7am on Saturday.  It is estimated to take 5½hrs to get up and down Ben Nevis, followed by a 5-6hr journey to Scarfel Pike in the Lake District, followed by summiting Snowdon in Wales in the early hours of Sunday Morning, before heading back to Swindon.

Mike is already planning two 3 Peaks Challenges for May 2013 and one in August 2013, all in support of the Soldiering On Trust www.soldieringon.org If you would like to book onto any of these and other challenges Mike runs throughout the year from Survival Weekends to various endurance challenges including the 3 Peaks Challenge then contact Mike on: 07791 356 482 or email at: activelifeuk@hotmail.com
