My Tennis Journey – David Lloyd Swindon
My Tennis Journey – David Lloyd Swindon
Last week after talking with David Lloyd PR Team, doing numerous fitness instructional and tennis videos and blogs, I started training at David Lloyd Swindon. Now looking forward to being supported by David Lloyd and this new sponsorship.
Not only will this be good for improving my fitness and help me build what I plan to be the largest exercise library on the web, but also help me regain my fitness, something I have lost since becoming housebound with my mental health which severely declined in 2014. I used to be I guess super human fit, I literally could blast any physical challenge, I’d broken 47 world records and ran some of the toughest foot races on the planet. Now after being house bound due to panic attacks for nearly two years, tennis has been part of what has helped me slowly get out of the house and back to some kind of reasonable fitness.
I’ve been playing tennis now since August 2016, which has helped with building my confidence back up. I still have plenty of bad days, but I’m getting better about being out of the house, tennis and photography has really helped me get out, but I do stay in my comfort zone, and only go places I’m comfortable with. David Lloyd will be a big part of me getting my health back.
David Lloyd Swindon is a great health club, the gym has an awesome range of kit, I love the free weights and functional training area, and the tennis courts are great. The staff have been awesome, the tennis coaching staff in just a week have really helped my game improve.
My fist coaching session with a lad called Zak, took me right to basics, working on my forehand. And taking that coaching session into my first Local Tennis League Match of the Autumn League helped me win 6-2 6-4, a comfortable win apart from a few rookie errors in the second set.
My second coaching session was with Paul, and this really was an awesome session, he just fed balls to me watching my technique on my forehand and backhand, watching for anything that could help irradiate the inconsistent quality of my shots, especially on my backhand topspin shot.
This really worked, its been great having someone looking at my technique and pointing out where I should be working on it.
I also gave Cardio Tennis a go this week for the first time, I’ve been wanting to try this for over a year, this is a great cardiovascular session hitting both aerobic and anaerobic using tennis drills.
There are loads of social Tennis sessions throughout the week during the day, evening and weekends, you can always find someone to play, the coaches are awesome and the members are extremely friendly and all levels of quality players to suit your game level.
The gym is kitted out with a great range of equipment, still to try a few classes yet, but that will be next week. Then of course there is poolside, not one pool, but two pools! A large jacuzzi which believe me I have used every time after a session in the gym or on the courts to relax, I’ve bloody ear to it, believe me! There are also two steam rooms to relax in, a sauna, and hot rock beds that really are so relaxing to finish off with.
If you are from Swindon, this really is the best club in Swindon, Swindon’s premier health club. In an age where budget gyms are sprouting up everywhere, mostly with the Fitness First & Kiss Gyms attitude of sales and bugger all interest in customer service, David Lloyd is a breath of fresh air.
I’ve been in the fitness industry for nearly 30yrs, I know a good gym when I see one, I know what makes a great club and David Lloyd Swindon ticks all the boxes! Can’t recommend this health club enough!
