My Tennis Journey – New Season, New League
My Tennis Journey – New Season, New League
The summer is over, overall I had a good summer league season, winning all but one match and coming runner up, my first competitive singles tennis in 17yrs.
So now promoted from League 4, into League 3, I was concerned when the fixtures came through and I saw half my league had been in league 2 during the summer, so basically they were two leagues above my during the summer. So going into this league I was thinking I’m probably going to get creamed, but with a couple of great coaching sessions under my belt from the David Lloyd coaching staff and playing on my favourite courts (the Swindon David Lloyd indoor courts) I went into my first match positive and it went well.
The first set with me serving the first game, I won 40-Love, then my opponent won his serve, again I won mine 40-15 and then I broke his serve. My game throughout the first set was really good! My best Tennis this year, consistent and some great winning shot powering both down the line and cross court off my forehand.
Eventually I win the first set 6-2
The second set, was a different story, my first service game, I lost, and lost badly! 15-40, and lost my next service game, but pushed on, eventually breaking serve back and breaking my opponents serve again to put me ahead 5-4 and with my opponent to serve at this point broke his serve again to win the match 6-2 6-4
A huge thanks to David Lloyd Health Club for supporting my tennis
