Royal Victoria Marathon | October
MARATHON
- Event is capped at 4,000. Register early to avoid disappointment.
Register for the Marathon – Early Start – 6:30 a.m.
- Starts on Menzies St. at Kingston beside the BC Legislative Buildings.
- NEW Time limit: 7 hours – finish line closes at 2:00 p.m. Walkers welcome.
- Participants with an estimated finish time of 5:30 – 7 hours only.
- Pre-race briefing starts at 6:00 a.m. at the start line.
EARLY START RULES – FOR WALKERS AND RUNNERS SLOWER THAN 5:30 HOURS
- Only participants indicating an expected finish time of greater than 5:30 hours (when you register) will be allowed to start at 6:30 a.m. Walkers are welcome as long as completion time is less than 7 hours. Faster Marathon participants and Half Marathoners are not permitted to start at 6:30 a.m.
- If you do not have the correct colour race number you will not be allowed to start early.
- Runners with a pace faster than 7:28/km (12:01/mile), finishing the marathon faster than 5 hr 15 min, or crossing the finish line before 11:45am will be disqualified and their names will be removed from the official results. This is a safety issue – the far reaches of the course have no marshals until after 8:00 a.m.
- Be at the Start by 6:00 a.m. (Location: Menzies & Kingston)
- Up until 7:30 am participants must be on the sidewalk, obey local traffic laws and be self sufficient as volunteer support will be limited.
- You will be escorted for the first 60-90 minutes of the marathon by cyclists. Some of the cyclists will be stationed at critical turning points and others will cycle along with you.
- You will need your own water for the first hour.
- There will be no traffic control for the first hour, so be very careful at intersections.

- Time limit: 5:29 hours – finish line closes at 2:15 p.m.
