WHAT IS SUNS?
SUNS is a local Swindon Charity run by Mental Health Service Users allowing us to have a voice about the care we receive.
Our aim is to support, train and encourage Mental Health Service Users to speak out about their experiences of Mental Health Services.
Who better than the Service Users to tell the providers what we want and how we want to be cared for.
What do we offer?
Space and support to build confidence and be heard
Have a voice groups where you can talk about your experiences while doing crafts or playing games
Opportunities to influence change within the local Mental Health Services
Training to help you gain self-confidence
We Make a Difference:
SUNS represents Service User experiences and views. We aim to make a difference to the services you receive
We give Service User feedback at regular meetings with Swindon Primary Care Services you receive
We give Service User feedback at regular meetings with Swindon Primary Care Trust, Swindon Council and Avon & Wilts Mental Health Partnership
We sit on interview panels for medical staff
We train Mental Health professionals
We check NHS leaflets and other documents
Being a Member:
It’s free to join SUNS. We encourage members to take part in our work, and offer training to enable people to get more involved.
