Terry Williams | Rotary Club Fundraiser ‘Shelter Box Appeal’
Terry Williams is a 62yr old man from Highworth, near Swindon in Wiltshire… Terry came up with a great idea to raise money for one of the Rotary Clubs international fundraising projects ‘Shelter Box’.
Terry is a member of the Swindon North Rotary club and has been a member for over 7yrs. When Terry came up with the idea he thought others would follow and join him in his week long fundraising challenge to sleep under canvas in one of the Shelter Box Tents in the middle of his home town of Highworth, but only a few were brave enough to spend even just one night.
The challenge was for Terry to sleep for 7nights in a Shelter Box Tent as a family would if hit by a natural disaster such as an Earthquake that would leave families homeless and in need of shelter.
I caught up with Terry on day 3 to see how he was getting on and to spend the night with him to follow him for a day in his Tented home. For a small village Terry had lots of local support from both residents and local business, by day 3 Terry had already raised enough for one ‘Shelter Box’ which cost about £590 and was certainly on target to raising enough for at least two boxes.
You dont have to be an athlete to be an inspirational person,Terry is a 62yr old man who instead of staying at home with his feet up in the warm, he decided to brave the February weather for a week in a tent to raise much needed funds for this amazing charity www.shelterbox.org
