XNRG | Ridgeway 200 Mountain Bike Enduro
This weekend saw one of the biggest mountain bike enduro races to pass through Swindon, the XNRG organised 200km cross country mountain bike race started all the way back in Wendover near the start of the Ridgeway with the end of stage 1 and day 1 at Ridgeway School in Wroughton who were chosen to host the event as a race HQ during the event that saw over 70 competitors from all over the UK compete this weekend.
The second stage saw the riders have to ride the 100km back to the start line to complete this 2day 200km race. The organisers XNRG organise some of the biggest Endurance races across the UK including Ultra Marathons like the Round the Island which sees competitors run the complete coastline of the Isle of Wight.
XNRG are also one of my major sponsors and have sponsored me from the very begining, I have run and cycled endurance races all over the UK & the globe and XNRG come up trumps every time with their events that are so well organised and you are totally looked after throughout the whole event with not corners cut.
I was out on the course supporting the event as a marshal this time whilst gearing up for my next challenge to take on the SAS Pen Y Fan Endurance Challenge in May when I takes a group of potential recruits for the Army over the course who are currently on the Wiltshire College Army Preperation Course.
This weekends event was a huge success with competitors of all levels taking part, some with the aim to win and some just to complete this arduous course which saw them complete not just one length of the Ridgeway but two! Extreme Energy XNRG have introduced this extreme distance multi-day Mountain Biking Challenge as part of a series of mountain bike races that will soon follow adding to their event series.
The Ridgeway 200 follows the oldest roadway in the UK, dating back to 3000BC. The event is in partnership with BucksMTB Mountain Bike Club.
The route follows the mountain bike route of the Ridgeway path from Wendover in Buckinghamshire to Swindon in Wiltshire, and back again!
A tough but fun weekend of Mountain Biking with everything except the cycling taken care of by the Extreme Energy team.
This is not a race but a timed event with the opportunity to earn a Gold, Silver or Bronze standard. Riders will be set off in groups at 2 minute intervals.
The event is open to individuals or teams. Mountain bikers and cyclo-cross riders both welcome.
